Toothpaste helps to clean your teeth and keep your breath fresh. Basic Toothpaste Ingredients
Toothpaste ingredients can be split into two categories: active and inactive. Active ingredients are those that have a therapeutic effect or make the toothpaste "work." Inactive ingredients improve the taste or ease of use of the toothpaste. Common inactive ingredients include flavoring and thickening agents, abrasives and detergents.

2. Stannous Fluoride. Stannous fluoride reacts with your tooth enamel to produce a repairing or robust layer over the vulnerable areas of your teeth. This protective layer helps shield against pain caused by sensitivity.
